BRANDINA, BAGS AND ACCESSORIES

THE SIMPLICITY OF A REVOLUTIONARY IDEA: BRINGING THE JOY, COLOR AND SPENSITIVITY OF THE FAMOUS SEA BED FABRIC INSIDE BAGS AND ACCESSORIES

BRANDINA the Original is the line of bags and accessories made from the fabric of the Italian Riviera's sea beds.

The idea was born during the creation by designer and photographer Marco Morosini of the photographic book "DIVIDIRIMINI" dedicated to the Adriatic Riviera and published in 2004 by Electa Mondadori.

The book tells the story of the Adriatic Riviera through the faces of Rimini's lifeguards. During the realization of the book he was struck by the ductility of the iconic fabric of the beach mattresses and decided to use it for the original covers of the book.

From there it was a short step: "In the fabric of the beach beds, I saw the beauty, the resistance and the possibility to create unique objects" says Marco, and so he decided to use it to create bags and accessories, enhancing them with an Italian craftsmanship.

In just a few years Brandina has become an icon of seaside design. The Brandina World encompasses over 50 years of tradition.
Brandina conveys the colours of the Italian beaches and the atmosphere you can breathe there.

THE DESIGN
OF THE FABRIC

A Brandina bag is the end result of an intense creative process. The inspiration for each texture comes from a work of art. A painting or a photograph serves as the chromatic basis for the development of a new colour. The artwork is enlarged to the point where it is broken down into pixels and the editing work begins: the composition starts to take shape. The composition begins to take shape. The colour of one line is replaced with another colour, some lines are enlarged, others thickened.

Sometimes you go in search of symmetry, other times you reject it. The desks of Brandina designers are flooded with dozens of spools of colored threads! The PC screens are the canvases on which to paint, the coloured threads the pigments for the tempera to be used.

So, from the impalpable pixels, we pass to the concreteness of the texture. The joint between warp and weft must be perfect to ensure the best chromatic performance. Once the composition of the fabric has been established and the first test sample has been approved, all that's left to do is to start weaving and imagine every bag in the Brandina catalogue dressed in new colours!

WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF COTS

THE ART OF SELLING A BAG

The Art of Selling a Bag explores the relationship between Design, Art and Industry. Art today is an abstract entity imprisoned in sterile white galleries, controlled by invisible gatekeepers and guarded by visible but hostile receptionists, their eyes fixed on their monitors.

Granarola Castle

The Castle of Granarola is the historic residence surrounded by nature just a stone's throw from the Adriatic Sea.
It takes its name from its function in Roman times: to store grain reserves in caves. Today a place of hospitality for guests from all over the world, it is reborn in respect of the history and aesthetics of the place, among oaks and fragrant laurels, glimpses of the sea and hills, as in a Renaissance painting by Piero della Francesca.
